Ohio's Energy-Efficient Light Bulb Program

At the request of Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) Chairman Alan Schriber, FirstEnergy has agreed to further discuss with the Commission its PUCO-approved program to provide compact fluorescent light bulbs to customers of its Ohio utilities -- Ohio Edison Company, The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company and The Toledo Edison Company.

What will be under discussion is First Energy's CFL Program.

According to First Energy this is "To help customers use energy more efficiently, we're delivering two compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) to the homes of residential customers of FirstEnergy’s Ohio operating companies -- Ohio Edison Company, The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company, and Toledo Edison Company. These types of bulbs use up to 75 percent less electricity than incandescent bulbs and can last 10 times longer -- contributing to significant money and energy savings over the life of the bulb. Providing energy-efficient light bulbs is just one way we can help our customers save money while also helping the environment."

But here is the truth behind the "feel good" program and that it's a total outrage and a severe rip off of First Energy customers.

First Energy is going to deliver two lightbulbs to each customer. The lightbulbs cost FE $3.50 each ($7.00 total) but whether you want them or not, First Energy will be allowed by the PUCO to charge $.60 per month for three years ($21.60) for those $7 lightbulbs (that you could actually buy at a store for less than that).

IN ADDITION TO THAT OVERCHARGE, the utility will be allowed to charge you an "assessment fee" to make up for the lower electricity use. In other words, if you use a dollar less each month with the bulbs then the company can charge you the dollar anyway. And yes, if you don't use the bulbs at all, you still get the fee charge.

This is no different than the Federal Government's current approach on health care. First Energy is forcing you to buy two $3.50 light bulbs for the $21.60 price whether you want them or not.

Now before you dismiss this craziness as some sort of insanity that could only happened in Ohio (or California or Wisconsin or .... ), I think you are now getting the idea. States copy each other in just what they can get away with when it comes to new taxes, fees or excuses when it comes to putting their hands in your pockets. It may not be tomorrow or next week, but if Ohio and First Energy gets away with this one, the 49 states will see the approach sooner or later.

Incidentally this government endorsed "green" approach to daily life that costs you money, is the heart and sole of "Cap and Trade" Nancy is pushing in DC.

PELOSI IS IN LEGAL HOT WATER OVER OWENS' VOTE IN CONGRESS

Many of you have heard that the election for U.S. House of Representatives in District 23 of upstate New York is now in question.

While it appeared Independent candidate Doug Hoffman lost the rather unusual election (remember the endorsed Republican candidate was exposed as a hard core Liberal and she withdrew), by about 6000 votes, as of today he has cut that loss by one half.

The nervous tension that has arisen on both sides of the political aisle is that the results may very well be headed for a recount because so many of the outstanding absentee ballots aren’t due until Monday and they are expected to come largely from military people. It may not be enough to change the outcome of the election but hope has indeed been restored.

What hasn’t been reported by many is a very important effect the initial results set into motion.

Democratic candidate Bill Owens immediately boogied off to Washington and voted Saturday night on Nancy Pelosi’s pet monster project, the Health Care Bill. And here is where life beats a Hollywood script every time.

The New York Election officials refused to ‘certify’ the results of the election as soon as they notice the dramatic swing with the absentee votes. (Obviously Hillary wasn’t at home last week or this might never have happened!)

Not only did New York State Board of Elections officials hold back on their authorization, they contacted Nancy Pelosi directly and told her the Democratic candidate (who, at this point IS NOT THE ‘WINNER’) could not be legally seated in Congress.

NANCY PELOSI IGNORED THEIR CAUTIONARY INFORMATION AND SEATED HIM ANYWAY SO HE COULD HELP IN THE VERY NARROW PELOSI WIN IN PASSING THE HOUSE VERSION OF THE BILL.

Knowingly allowing an ‘unelected’, common citizen from New York to sit in Congress and actually vote on a Bill stretches any semblance of legality or common sense and IT ACTUALLY MAKES THE ENTIRE HOUSE VOTE UNOFFICIAL AND VOID!

There are justifiable expectations that certification of the election will come by Tuesday or Wednesday and the overall results will not change, but that does not excuse Pelosi’s radical actions.

See should be subject to an ethics review that removes her from holding the position as Speaker of the House.

FLORIDA'S CRIST SELF IMPLODES SENATE CAMPAIGN

It's been a mistake-prone couple of weeks for Florida Governor Charlie Crist as "political speak" (lies) are not floating in the South nearly as well as a "Baby Ruth" cruises the surface in Washington. Must be Bill Murray is tossing some C4 in the pool.

Recently President Obama flew into Florida to do a photo op with troops in Jacksonville, Crist was a no-show, claiming he didn't even know the increasingly unpopular President was stopping by the state. Guess he didn't watch the "Lame-Stream Media" (or Fox), all of whom had stories on the planned visit.

It seems obvious to most that Crist was out for a daily jog, running away from anything to do with Obama.

He is in real danger of wearing out his track shoes because for the last two weeks he's also been trying to outrun criticism for praising Obama's economic stimulus package earlier in the year. Video of him giving Barack a big hug hasn't helped Crist, but it continues to build a following for Marco Rubio, Crist's nemesis in the coming run for Senate. (Mel Martinez quit when he reportedly lined up a $750,000 a year job as a Lobbyist in DC.)

Now Crist's office has released the news that longtime Communications Director Erin Isaac has hit the road. It's the old "pursue other opportunities" thing but everyone in Tallahassee knows the Titanic is now about to set sail from Charlie's house and she gave up the deck chair.

Another "little" problem Crist is dealing with is one of his biggest financial supporters -- Scott Rothstein, a prominent Florida attorney -- has drawn the attention of the Feds for possibly engaging in a "Ponzi scheme". If indeed that was the source of nearly $500,000 he contributed to Crist and the Republican Party in Florida (yes, the same people who endorsed Crist over Rubio), maybe that is the real iceberg that will sink Crist's Senate race.

In the spirit of fairness here, I don't want the mentions of Rubio to get a completely free ride. For those who see him on his current campaign schedule, it's time to crucify Marco on his stand on illegal immigration. I'm not exactly saying he's ready to hire the buses to bring people from Mexico but boat rides from Cuba might be a whole different thing...

FORT HOOD SHOOTER HANDS OUT KORAN BEFORE ATTACK

Reports came out Friday morning that Major Nidal Malik Hasan was a strong Islamic Muslim supporter and even handed out copies of the Koran to neighbors prior to his attack at Fort Hood Thursday. Sounds like premeditated terrorism to me.

Major Hasan has also been accused of calling out to Allah during the killings of 13 people and wounding of 30 others on the base. But you may not hear any of this today based on just what "news" organization you listen to or watch on TV.

What you probably will hear is how the officer was suffering from "PTSD" (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and it caused him to "snap".

The problem with this approach is twofold. For those who actually have suffered a truly traumatic experience or experiences (like combat) in their lives, and they need understanding and the best treatment possible, "Excuse Media" denigrates those victims as they try to apply the label to Hasan. He has never been in combat. He has never been sent overseas at all and he is American, born in the United States.

The other concern is that with each passing day, these same PC people are trying to establish a whole new category of people to be pitied. This becomes the world's first case of "Pre Traumatic Stress Disorder".

PELOSI LOSES ONE OF HER OWN IN FLORIDA!

Democratic Congressional Representative Suzanne Kosmas from New Smyrna Beach, Florida has announced her reversal in supporting Nancy Pelosi's Health Care Bill in Washington. With a standing voting record that supported the Democratic Party line for more than 90% of Bills presented, and a prior position that she intended to vote in favor of the Health Care Bill, Kosmas surprised many in Central Florida with her change. Maybe she is getting back to a promise she made to voters a year ago: "I commit to you that I will be an independent voice in Washington focused on the people of this district - not on any political party."

But it really appears that the Freshman Congress Woman finally realized her own future was at serious risk if she continued to support Pelosi's approach to taking over the health care business and yet another huge chunk of America's economy. Despite pockets here and there, Florida continues to be a Conservative to Independent voter state.

Kosmas is from Volusia County, Florida which includes Daytona Beach. By some estimates Daytona's year-round residential population is 75% Black and last year the heavily Democratic base came out for her. Some wonder if the political shift that took place in Virginia and New Jersey this past week -- in which the "Obama Faithful" failed to show up at the polls and Democrats lost -- was all the threat needed to convince her to change her position.

It will be interesting to see the backlash she endures from Party leaders but more so, it will be informative to see if hers is just the first of many defections for Pelosi.

WHITE HOUSE UNGLUED ABOUT VOTING IN NJ AND VA

For the many Americans who still don't realize just how big an inferiority complex Bill Clinton had and why the term "shame-based control" was invented by Hillary (she knew every time Bill had sex and always feigned that she would expose him if he didn't follow her lead), shortly after she and Bill left college, perhaps Obama will give you a second chance to understand Puppet Presidents.

Let me put it in terms any long time computer geek would understand. President Obama is "Vaporware 2.0". A lot of promise that this new Operating System will correct all the mistakes of the past, but it never delivers. Obama is already in need of a series of drastic revisions because of his lies to Americans in general and to his Progressive Left supporters. The recent elections that utterly failed to rally his base prove even the hard core understand he is smoke and mirrors.

Maybe that's where the idiotic comments from the White House are coming from. Disenchanted minions are wandering the halls wondering where their Utopia went in the last 12 months.

Is it any surprise that women like Valarie Jarrett, Nancy Pelosi, Michelle Obama and others are so busy trying to micromanage everything (and hide who is really "in charge"), that occasionally they lose sight of the fact that some members of their team are just morons. Hey "girls". Do you think some of the troops got sick on the "Kool-aid"?
